Ever since iPad became available in the market, 3 billion apps have been downloaded from the app store for iPad. To put things into perspective, it took another popular tablet six months longer to reach the same milestone after the App Store’s opening in 2008.
This news came with rumors on apple next generation iPad which is expected to come out in February. There is no doubt on the popularity of Apple’s App Store, from where huge numbers of applications are downloaded by the users on daily basis.
On the contrary, Google’s Android Market is not going very well, fewer sales are to be blamed on lack of app development. According to ABI research, another reason is Android tablet being of cheaper and underpowered variety and age old problem of Android Fragmentation.
As for Apple, their app sales will continue to grow because they have a strong developer’s community and most selling tablet. Next time 3 billion won’t take too long.
